Ruotsiin/To Sweden

Menen Ruotsiin Zen-temppeliin kuun loppuun asti. Bloggaan näkymiä Finnåkerista, ajattelin nääs valokuvata. Vapaa-aikaa on hulppeat kaksi tuntia päivässä. Sunnuntaisin saamme katsoa televisiota. I'm going to Sweden to a Zen temple until the end of the month. I'll blog scenerys from Finnåker. I have a plan to photo. We've got two hours of spare time each day. On sundays we may watch tv. Sellanen juttu, että ensimmäiset viisi riviä ovat 9 cm leveitä ja loput 11 cm. Jossain vaiheessa sekosin laskuissa, mutta ei se ehkä haittaa. Eri päivinä tehdyt osat erottuvat turhan selkeästi. 4-5 tuntia työhuoneella on aikalailla maksimi minulle. Työn intensiteetti on ihan erilaista kuin palkkatöissä.

The first five rows are 9 cm and the rest 11 cm wide. My mistake. But it might not matter. Parts of the painting made on different days jump out too much. Four to five hours at the studio are enough for me. Working there is more intense compared to normal "paid jobs".

Getting it on

Tässä osa siitä mitä tänään tein. Guassia paperille. Noin 50 cm leveä. Lopullinen koko tulee olemaan 110 x 110 cm.

Here's a part of what I did today. Gouache on paper. Ca. 50 cm wide. The final work might measure 110 x 110 cm.

Back to business

Palkkatyöt loppuivat viime viikon torstaina, eli tässä on päässyt hiljalleen aloittelemaan työhuonerutiineja. Käyrät maalauspohjat olen saanut oikaistua ja hieman tulevia teosideoita luonnostellut. Käytännössä se tarkoittaa että testailen toistettavia kuvioita pienille mdf/paperipohjille akryylillä ja musteella. Pingotin eilen myös 150 x 150 cm mustan paperin, jolle yritän saada aikaan teoksen jolla voi hakea vaikkapa Nuortennäyttelyyn. Kuvassa ideani pienikokoisena. Nyt pääsiäisen viettoon kotiseudulle.

My job was finished on last weeks thursday, so I've been able to start with my studio routines again. The crooked paintings have been straightened out and I've begun sketching some new ideas I have. Meaning I've done small tests on little pieces of mdf or paper by repeating different kinds of patterns with acrylics and ink. I also straightened a black paper of 150 x 150 cm, which might become a piece that I'll apply with to the Young Artists' exhibition in Helsinki next fall. Next: eastern back at my homestead.

Purin Tampereen näyttelyn jo viikko sitten. Työntäyteinen vapaapäivä, joka rupesi jo huimaamaan. Ensin Helsingistä henkilöautolla Tampereelle ja sitten pakettiauton vuokraukseen ja ympäri Tamperetta puikkelehtimaan taas. Yllättävän töyssyistä kyytiä, kun ajaa lumipolanteiden yli. Se on kumma, kun jokaisessa näyttelyn purkamisessa sattuu jokin kämmi tai pari. Tällä kertaa tonnilla kehystetyt työt kaatuivat kuljetuksen aikana toisten töitten päälle. Sydän jätti muutaman lyönnin välistä, mutta onni onnettomuudessa; mitään ei rikkoutunut. Kannattaa pakata huolella ja asetella teokset lasit lasia vasten limittäin kokojärjestyksessä. Hihnallahan ne olivat kiinni, harakiri-tapaan. Ei vuokrapakettiautoissa ole kiinnikkeitä hihnoille tavaratilan seinissä, vaan lattioissa. On se prkl. Joskus jos oppisi käyttämään noita hihnojakin, joissa on se vempele, johon köysi on jumiutunut mahdollisimman vaikeasti. Tällä kertaa näyttely tuotti muutaman ryhmänäyttelykutsun, rahaa ei tietenkään. Mutta onneksi kohdeapuraha riittää nyt kattamaan kustannukset. I took the Gallery Tieto exhibition down a week ago. It was a busy day off from work, filled with work. First I drove from Helsinki to Tampere and then I went and rented a van and drove around Tampere. The ride is quite bumpy when you drive through rails of snow on the roads. It seems odd that there can be no exhibition dismantling without any screw ups. This time all of my framed paintings fell down in the van's boot. After few heartbeatless moments I was to notice nothing went broke. Pfeeew! Lucky me, I did the packaging properly. Except for the rope that binds the pieces on the vans wall. It's quite hard cos rental vans that I've rented have straps on their floors, not on the wall's, so I just have to bind them in harakiri style and hope for the best. It would also be useful to learn how to bind those ropes with the lock thingie on them, which has of course, been strapped on a weird knot somehow. This exhibition didn't naturally produce any money, but two invitations to group exhibitions this summer instead. One is in Mänttä's Honkahovi and the other one in TR1's Vooninkisali, Tampere.
